What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition? We offer the widest variety of firearms, tactics, preparedness and self-defenses courses in the area, taught by the most credentialed, most experienced staff of male and female instructors and traveling national level trainers. KR Training is the oldest, largest firearms training school in central Texas, with the only permanent training facility that has steel and 3-D targets, loaner gear, a shoothouse, force on force equipment, and an office-grade classroom building. Many of our competitors are graduates of our courses.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business? After training at the nation's top firearms schools in the early 1990s, I wanted to offer affordable, accessible training to local. Our goal was to offer professional-grade training taught by the most qualified instructors. When KR Training started there were no other firearms schools offering training in the Austin area.
What do you love most about your job? Helping students improve and gain confidence in their abilities to safely handle firearms, meet realistic standards for shooting skill, and learn to make ethical, moral, and legally justifiable use of force decisions. The instructor certification and development courses we offer have been attended by dozens of local trainers, improving the quality of instruction available in our area.
What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer? We have had multiple students use their skills successfully to save lives in dangerous situations, applying the avoidance, de-escalation, tactics, and shooting skills we teach in ethical, moral and legally justifiable actions.
