The gentleman that set me up at the front desk was friendly, thorough and efficient. I can't say the same for the instructor though. Being that there were only four people in the class, I thought it would be a great opportunity to get more feedback from the coach (Roy for whom the trademark is named after). I was quite disappointed when Roy only demonstrated one move. So, I learned from the other students who had taken only one or two classes. He did walk around me once and make a correction, but most of the time he stood almost off the matt with his hands in his pockets. I would've liked to have an explanation of when each strike would be useful in a life situation, the purpose and target of the strike and what correct form looks like. Upon entering there is a really strong chemical smell, but I got used to it after a few minutes. On the plus side, there's a dog named Rocky who's cute and friendly!! As I was leaving I asked the guy at the front if Roy was the only instructor for the beginners and he said there are several instructors. So I may return in hopes of getting a different instructor. I'm really sad to write a negative review but it's my real experience. Hopefully I'll have a better experience next time - obviously there were still good enough points for me to give it one more shot.

About Krav Maga L.A. | REKM

Perhaps the only thing as impressive as Roy Elghanayan’s reign as a two-time Israeli Krav Maga National Champion is the students with whom he’s shared his incredible skill. He first was hand-chosen to devise the Israeli Special Forces’ training program. In 2011, the Argentinean Marines enlisted him to teach the sport to their soldiers. He even trained actress Jessica Chastain for her role in the movie The Debt. Today, he continues to travel the world to teach Krav Maga and works out of his studio, Krav Maga L.A. | REKM.

Krav maga is a more rigorous form of self-defense developed by the Israeli military when they realized that ancient martial arts would translate to modern battlefields. Roy and his staff helm classes for both adults and children as part of a six-day schedule that divides students by their skill level. Beginners’ classes corral 18 participants or less so that instructors can easily oversee technique while still having enough bodies to build a human pyramid if morale is low. With continued practice, the instructors at Krav Maga L.A. | REKM hope to imbue their students with the physical and mental skill to escape threatening situations should they ever arise.
