Led by certified Krav Maga instructor and renowned self-defense lecturer James Sherman, a staff of certified trainers and top-tier martial arts practitioners draws from global disciplines to whip their students into shape with aerobic and strength training workouts. The official fighting system of the Israeli Defense Forces and the bane of many a would-be hamburglar, Krav Maga utilizes the body’s natural instincts to kick muscles into gear and attackers to the curb. Each group workout incorporates elements of balance, core development, and weight training exercises that allow students to successfully deploy Krav Maga’s aggressive maneuvers, from full-contact kicks and punches to choke breaks and ground fighting. 90-day extreme makeover classes focus solely on fitness, utilizing equally intense exercises to overhaul each participating body or decrepit house hoping to begin dating condos again. Women can learn to utilize their everyday accessories, such as handbags, keys, and cell phones, as weapons during women’s self-defense courses, which also offer tactics for increasing awareness of one’s environment.
Classes for students of all fitness and experience levels are held at convenient times at the East 31st Street location, allowing James to strap on his rollerblades and dart over for a high-intensity workout between visits with celebrity clientele including John Mayer and peace negotiations in the U.N.’s cage-fighting chamber.
