$10 for $20 Worth of Krispy or Traditional Cupcakes
Cupcakes made of rice-krispy treats come with a dollop of vanilla cream that conceals flavors such as fudge brownie, peanut-butter Oreo, and M&Ms ($0.90 each). For a more traditional treat, opt for regular cupcakes in a range of flavors ($2.25 each).
It appeared to Andrea Shobe that traditional birthday cakes had gone out of style. At parties she’d attend for her young daughter and her friends, the birthday cake was always left half eaten or barely touched, while other baked goods barely seemed to last a few hours. So she began tinkering with birthday cakes made out of Rice Krispies cereal, and suddenly kids couldn’t get enough. The treats became so popular with friends and family that Shobe decided to open Krispy Creations, a bakery dedicated to alternative birthday sweets.
Shobe crafts her cakes’ krispy bases in a range of flavors, incorporating such treats as mint Oreos, chocolate-chip cookie dough, and Butterfingers chocolates. She then tops them with decorative fondant or vanilla-cream topping. Her cakes come in all shapes and sizes, and can be easily transported without worry of denting or smudging. Furthermore, her treats require no refrigeration and no utensils except a knife to portion off slices. Shobe can complement her gooey treats with batches of ice cream and traditional cupcakes, ensuring all sweet teeth are satiated without doing a full census.
