The family that plays together stays together, which is why most sporting equipment is made of powerful magnets. Generate an electromagnetic field of fun with today's Groupon: for $15, you get a wristband for three hours of unlimited bowling, go-karting, and mini-golf at Kristof's Entertainment Center in Round Lake Beach (a $30 value).
Founded more than 30 years ago by brothers Tom and Jim Kristof, Kristof's Entertainment Center is a haven of amusement apparatuses, from revved-up go-karts to an adventurous mini-golf course. Each wristband wearer is entitled to a three-hour spree of white-knuckle racing, pin-shattering bowling, and duck-feeding mini-golf. Miniaturized, motorized chariots hug the winding curves of the go-kart track, thereby fulfilling the competitive desires of their riders. The scenic mini-golf course is decorated with numerous fountains, manicured shrubs, and an enchanted castle, and a dozen lanes in the bowling alley provide a safe environment in which to throw smooth rocks at hapless pinheads.
Though not included in the wristband, the fun factory also fields batting cages, pool tables, and a ticket-redemption arcade. Seek mixed elixirs in the full bar along with post-activity eats.
Kristof's Entertainment Center
Single-seat Formula K go-karts sidle beside two-seaters on Kristof Entertainment Center's family-friendly driving track. After letting the wind tussle hair, friends and families compete on the 18-hole scenic miniature-golf course replete with challenging holes and flanked by waterfalls, fountains, and castles. In batting cages, baseballs and softballs hurl toward bat-wielders, and players send bowling balls careening toward pins across lanes during regular or cosmic bowling. Sports skills are further tested at seven billiards tables that leave ample opportunity for sinking in eight-balls, and the arcade's classic redemption games such as skee-ball facilitate fun and prizes. After exhausting all one's rounds of play, Kristof's Bar reenergizes visitors with Pepsi products and snacks while broadcasting sports on its many televisions.
