Kybecca Wine Bar & Shop, a slow-food restaurant set within a converted 1860s general store, freshens up palates with a gourmet menu of small plates and entrees crafted from locally grown ingredients. Parties start the gustatory revelry with a cheese platter, festooned with three or four artisan offerings such as Cherry Glen chipotle chevre and fromage d’affinois brie. Guests pass around tapas-style bites of pistachio-pesto gnocchi or four bison blue-cheese sliders made from humanely raised meat. Spend quality time with full-plate entrees, including the brace of lamb ribs accompanied by pesto gnocchi and roasted tomatoes, or the truffle-buttered beef tenderloin, which rests like a spectacularly successful and eccentric truffle trader on a bed of wild-mushroom risotto.

The dining room’s exposed-brick walls exhibit artwork from local craftspeople, and the wine bar pours out onto a sidewalk café. Foodies who take a postman’s approach to dining can sit out on the outdoor dining area that neutralizes inclement weather with heaters to combat chilliness or a gentle mist to beat back summertime heat. On weekends and Thursday evenings, live acoustic performers set the soundtrack with melodies soft enough to converse over or wipe dirty faces with.

Customer Reviews

I really enjoy having a place like Kybecca in town.

It's fun and clean. The prices are good. The cook was excellent and very personable. The experiences I've had with servers hasn't been the most positive however. The two servers I've had have been pretty unfriendly and act as if we're an inconvenience. I will go back because it is the only wine bar in Fredericksburg.
