Kyoto Palace Japanese Steakhouse is tucked inside the second level of Pruneyard Shopping Center. Within the traditional hibachi-style dining area, guests sit at a table inset with a 6-foot grill that doubles as the chef’s workstation. Sitting front row, they can watch as chefs chop, slice, and dice meats and vegetables before cooking them on the grill. The chefs also toss pieces of shrimp into diners’ mouths and build a replica of the White House out of onion rings—feats that surely helped earn them OpenTable’s Diners’ Choice awards for being Kid Friendly and a Special Occasion eatery. And, if someone prefers a cold meal, they can sidle up to the sushi bar and watch as sushi chefs build rolls with smoked salmon, tobiko, cream cheese, and carrots.
