Q:

Is there a tightening effect or is it mainly for sun damage or acne? Honestly how many sessions would it take to eliminate brown spots as a result of sun damage on face and/ or hands?

rochelle r.  asked on  Sep 30, 2012

A:

IPL is used to target the variations in skin that happen over time (like sun spots, wrinkles, and acne). I am not sure what you mean exactly by "tightening effect" but if your main concern is removing the visibility of sun spots on your skin IPL treatments can definitely do that. I cannot say without looking at the skin how many sessions it would take to treat you, but I do highly suggest getting our deal for 3 or 4 IPL treatments since they are at a heavily reduced price.

Q:

can I be in the sun after?

Francesca F.  asked on  Sep 30, 2012

A:

We do apply sunscreen on you afterward, but we highly recommend to avoid the sun as much as possible for the remainder of the day. Your skin will be sensitive to light and any unnecessary sun exposure could mitigate the effects of the IPL treatment.

Q:

How long do I need to wait for the next treatment? Is the expiration date for the whole sessions or the first session?

yuko y.  asked on  Oct 2, 2012

A:

Expiration date is for when you first redeem your coupon. Generally, the average wait time between IPL treatments is around 4 weeks, but it can be more or less depending on what you are targeting on your skin to be improved. For a better answer, make sure to come in for our free consultation to discuss what your goals are with the IPL treatment.

More Questions and Answers

Q:

Can it be used on fair skin?

Bettine M.  asked on  Oct 1, 2012

A:

Yes. IPL treatments work on almost all types of skin, and depending on what exactly you are trying to reduce (sun spots, acne) IPL is mostly effective either alone or in conjunction with another treatment (such as a facial, or microdermabrasion)

Q:

Do I need to avoid sun exposure prior to going in? I'm outdoors a lot and have the sun dark spots. Want to do this but difficult to avoid being outside.

brian h.  asked on  Sep 30, 2012

A:

It is difficult to avoid the sun, specially in sunny Southern California. If you must be in the sun for extended periods prior to coming in for your IPL treatment, just make sure to wear SPF 30 or higher sunscreen to prevent any further sun exposure on your skin. We also do apply sunscreen on you after your IPL treatment, and do advise you to avoid the sun if possible.

Q:

What is included in an IPL facial?

Randi M.  asked on  Sep 30, 2012

A:

An IPL fotofacial goes in two steps: 1) we clean your face to make sure all make up and excess skin is removed; and 2) IPL treatment for 20-25 mins which targets the skin area to help reduce any variance in pigmentation and make your skin look healthy and new! For those who have a more oily skin type, or those who have other skin issues (like acne) we do recommend to get a regular facial first before the IPL to make the IPL treatment more effective. We also also offer a "lifting mask" with our IPL which acts as a face lift, but without any type of surgery! We offer a free skin consultation to all our clients to make sure we address all our clients' questions and needs.
