The margaritas were terrific, food was great, and our waiter Alfredo did a wonderful job -- making us feel welcome and taking great care of us. In fact, all the waitstaff were attentive, friendly, and efficient. We had the mixed hot appetizers, lobster fra diavolo special, and the veal special -- creme brûlée and cheesecake for dessert. (Note desserts are $10 each!! That added $20 + tax to our meal.) Everything was excellent, except the cheesecake. I'm used to Sicilian style -- slightly lumpy with citron & flavor of almond -- so I found theirs a bit bland and soft, with not much flavor or texture. Everything else was terrific. La Carbonara is expensive for us, but definitely worth the trip next time we can afford to go.

About La Carbonara

With its weathered wooden tables, decoratively paneled wainscoting, and wall-mounted chalkboards displaying the restaurant's wine menu, La Carbonara fully embraces the homespun charm of an Italian trattoria. The chefs echo this commitment in the kitchen, using buffalo mozzarella, handmade pastas and gnocchi, and imported mortadella to create comfort foods clearly grounded in Old World traditions. At the same time, they occasionally elevate their seasonally rotating dishes beyond typical home cooking by incorporating gourmet ingredients, such as white truffle oil and prosciutto di Parma.

Pristine white french doors sweep open under a bright red awning, beckoning visitors to enter the tawny dining room. A large, modern bar matches the awning’s popping color while gently contrasting with the eatery’s Old World sensibilities. During warm months, a charming patio sidles diners up to the sidewalk, where people watching is at a premium.
