Though not as well known as Little Italy, there’s a two-block stretch on Chicago’s near-southwest side that carries an Italian tune. Burrowed within this enclave since 1971, La Fontanella tends to a stable of Italian favorites, including sausages and peppers, veal dishes, and homemade pastas, such as spinach and cheese ravioli with pesto. The modest restaurant presents its dishes inside a fittingly cozy dining room, complete with checkered table cloths and flower-rimmed dishes. In an adjacent room, servers dish out drinks from behind a full bar, and throughout the building, old photos and awards line the walls.
What some people are buzzing about:

“anything you order is great, but pay attention to Franco's personal choices and creations”
