Hear magnificent works by three of the 20th century's most acclaimed composers during this special evening with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. Led by Music Director Kent Nagano, the orchestra will play Stravinsky's lyrical, lovely Rite of Spring, a work that famously caused a near-riot when it debuted in 1913. Joining the MSO for Prokofiev's challenging Piano Concerto No. 3 will be Russian wunderkind Daniil Trifonov. Though he's just 25 years old, the expressive Trifonov (and La Jolla Music Society favorite) has taken the concert world by storm as a pianist and composer, winning medals at the Chopin, Rubinstein and Tchaikovsky Competitions, three of the most prestigious contests in the world. This concert, at San Diego's Jacobs Music Center, kicks off with Debussy's Jeux, a "danced poem" that is arguably his greatest achievement.
