Everything was great…the only weird part was the only one who caught a lobster was our guide, and he kept it for himself…maybe that’s typical just seemed a bit odd.

NOT FOR BEGINNER DIVERS!!!! EVEN IF YOURE AN EXCELLENT SWIMMER THIS IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! ITS DARK ITS COLD AND THE EQUIPMENT MAKES YOU FEEL BLOCHY AND REALLY HEAVY. WON'T BE TRYING THIS AGAIN. COOL STAFF BUT A LOT OF DETAILS ARE LEFT OUT ON THIS APP IN REGARDS TO WHAT IS REQUIRED OF YOU. THE SWIM TEST IS REALLY UNNECESSARY AND TIRING BECAUSE THE LOBSTER CATCHING PART IS IN SHALLOW WATER.

Wetsuit is $10. Day license is $17. Lobster card is $10. Plus tip. So it can be an extra $50 per person.
If you are booked in a big group, the people at the front will likely catch or scare the lobsters away so you may not see anything at all. This is no fault of La Jolla Water Sports, but just know what to expect.

Excellent tour itself, booking was a bit of a struggle, information on website did not match the shops website or the actual process and the dive shop was closed during the indicated business hours on the website. Would highly recommend the tour itself just call the business ahead of time to confirm scheduling, redeeming, and process to get on the tour.

Snorkeling was a fun experience with our teen kids. Jack was an excellent guide and we felt comfortable and safe with him! We will be back sometime for a spear fishing lesson.

The guide was very nice and knowledgeable but only 2 out of a group of 6 went into the water. The thing that was frustrating was a friend just wanted help with the snorkel, but rather than ask what was wrong and trying to help, he just said no...just sit on the beach. It was the lack of communication at finding out what the issue was an could've been easy fixed.

Groups equipped with a wetsuit, snorkel, fins, protective gloves, and dive lights depart at night, when lobsters are most active, to seek them out in their natural habitat. Thanks to a snug-fitting wetsuit, boots, and hoods, divers stay protected from the cold water throughout their 60–80-minute dive. Each of the guests can take home up to seven lobsters of legal size, captured with the help of their guides.

At La Jolla Water Sports, guides undergo extensive training before captaining snorkeling excursions into the calm, crystalline waters of the Pacific. The experts escort 6 to 12 patrons at a time on shark tours of the shallow, sandy flats where small-mouthed leopard sharks up to 5 feet long lounge on their easy chairs of sand. Snorkeling tours of the La Jolla cove grant participants, including beginners and kids, a siren's-eye view of rock formations, underwater flora, and marina critters including garibaldi fish, sea cucumbers, anemones, and starfish.
