If grapes could talk, they'd recount their dreams, the first time they got plucked, and the first time they felt victimized by nature's rumor mill—the vine. Taste the tales of the grape with today's Groupon to La Parisianne du Chocolat. Choose between the following options:
- For $199, you get an in-home wine and chocolate tasting for up to 10 people (a $400 value).
- For $300, you get an in-home cognac and chocolate tasting for up to 10 people (a $600 value).
This Groupon is valid for tastings at homes in the Gold Coast, Downtown, Hyde Park, Bronzeville, Bucktown, Millennium Park, Lincoln Park, River Forest, and Oak Park neighborhoods.
La Parisianne du Chocolat owner Robyn Rice-Foster schools choosy Chicago-area chocoholics using expertise gleaned from chocolate-arts school and studies with Parisian chocolate masters. During the two-hour wine and chocolate tasting, the cocoa-inquisitive each enjoy a six-wine flight, composed of three whites and three reds, and a four-chocolate flight, with one each of white, milk, semi-sweet dark, and bittersweet dark chocolate, along with assorted cheeses and breads. Guests learn about wine tasting, its long and storied relationship with chocolate, and how to avoid a permanently stained shirt when breaking up with a particularly volatile bottle of red. At the two-hour cognac tasting, gathered guests enjoy the same four-chocolate flight, cheese and bread assortment, and technique tidbits, while imbibing a four-cognac flight with one taste from each of the godfathers of cognac: Hennessey, Martell, Remy Martin, and Courvoisier.
At the end of each tasting workshop, each guest goes home with a sample of chocolate truffles, as well as the dark and stormy afterglow of a dark-chocolate sugar high. Hooch-loving hosts must supply wine glasses or brandy snifters.
