What You'll Get
Though delightful on its own, pasta is an excellent vehicle for other ingredients, such as meatballs, sautéed vegetables, and teens that don't want to be seen in their parent's minivan. Dine on stylish starches with today's Groupon to La Villa Trattoria in Westport. Choose between the following options:
- For $10, you get $20 worth of Italian fare for lunch.
- For $25, you get $50 worth of Italian fare for dinner.
La Villa Trattoria's Chef Michael Sornatale, a native of southern Italy, crafts authentic regional pastas, meats, and seafood in his cozy, colorful restaurant. A grilled shrimp caesar wrap ($8.95) and portobello, mozzarella, and tomato panini ($8.95) reside on the lunch menu, along with a selection of abridged pastas, meats, and Puccini arias. The dinner hour tops tables with dishes such as veal parmigiana ($24.95) and spaghetti alla carbonara, with light cream sauce flavored with onions and pancetta ($19.95). Chefs immerse a fun-loving fish in a confetti of olives, capers, anchovies, and spicy red sauce in the halibut puttanesca ($28.95), and an extensive wine list includes oenophilic delights by the glass bottle or 50-gallon drum.
Seated at La Villa Trattoria's white-cloth-draped tables, patrons may feel the impulse to share their antipasti with a boater or poke a seagull with a breadstick, but the cerulean waterfront scene they're observing is merely a mural painted by local artist, Kim Salander.
About La Villa Trattoria
Inspired by his upbringing in southern Italy, La Villa Trattoria chef Michael Sornatale crafts a rotating menu of seasonally inspired fare with free-range and organic ingredients. Unexpected combinations of simple ingredients, such as white-wine sauce and hot cherry peppers on the pollo e salsiccia scarpariello, give his traditional Italian dishes a creative verve. Sornatale also strives to incorporate less common tastes, including wild game such as roe deer and rabbit, without diminishing the accessibility of his menu. Chefs also concoct low-fat and heart-healthy items, and provide a list of Italian wines carefully selected to complement each entree.
At lunchtime, La Villa Trattoria’s dining area fills with natural light softly diffused with sheer, white curtains. Artist Kim Salander’s murals of the small Italian fishing village of Portofino combine with ambient fog horns to create a seaside ambiance indoors.
