Laughter is the best medicine, though it tends to be the worst legal defense. Salute the healing art of comedy with today's Groupon: for $15, you get two tickets to an upcoming show at the Laff Spot Comedy Club, located in Spring. All guests must be 18 or older and adhere to the club's two-item minimum (food or beverage).
A stomach-shaking staple of Houston since 1991, the Laff Spot features a range of onstage funnymen and women in the club's intimate, smoke-free Las Vegas–style showroom. Coming attractions include Glendale’s Nick Gaza (May 13–14), whose raunch and paunch has been seen on NBC’s The Biggest Loser; Comedy Central and Loco Comedy Jam veteran Patrick DeGuire (May 20–21), who draws belly laughs with his biting take on family life; weekly LA radio host, The Marijuana-Logues scribe, and ha-ha hero Jimmy Dore (May 27–28); and Billy Gardel, star of CBS sitcom Mike and Molly (date to be scheduled). Previous headliners include the likes of Chris Rock, Pauly Shore, David Brenner and Jimmie Walker.
With these and a host of future acts on the calendar, there’ll be no shortage of chances to horrifically shatter every funny or somewhat amusing bone in the body. The Laff Spot's shows are scheduled on Fridays at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., Saturdays at 7 p.m., 9 p.m., and 10:45 p.m., and Sundays at 7:30 p.m.
