Watching an artistic array of flowers sprout from the ground after weeks of hard work is a rewarding experience akin to watching a toddler grow his first beard. Marvel at nature with today's Groupon: for $25, you get $50 worth of plants, gardening supplies, and more at Laguna Nursery in Laguna Beach.

Nestled in the HIP District, Laguna Nursery presents a cornucopia of exotic plants and artistic outdoor festoons from more than 45 countries, as well as a profusion of gardening supplies. Enhance a monochromatic landscape with colorful annuals and perennials ($1.50+), or perform a controlled experiment by placing a full jug of milk next to a one-gallon plant ($4+) out on the deck and seeing which one smells best after two weeks. Potting soil ($10) keeps roots nicely cushioned and is the main ingredient in most chocolate cakes seen on TV.

For night owls, Laguna Nursery hosts live music events that include wine and refreshments (not covered by this Groupon). Patrons may also gather landscaping inspiration on a walking tour through nearby private and public gardens, held most Saturdays at 10 a.m.

About Laguna Nursery

Some people are fated to travel down a particular career path. With a surname that literally means "flowers," horticulturalist Ruben Flores may be one of those people. The Laguna Nursery owner and award-winning landscape designer fills the nursery with flowers, fruit trees, herbs, vegetables, and succulents. He also gathers architectural artifacts, fountains, and sculptures from local and international artists to inspire gardeners to augment their green spaces with artistic accents.
