Home remodeling, like an earthquake, dramatically changes what it feels like to sit in one's living room. Learn how to change your household while avoiding natural disasters with today’s Groupon: for $8, you get two adult admissions to the Lake Houston Area Home & Garden Show in Humble, redeemable on Saturday, February 18, or Sunday, February 19 (a $16 value).
On February 18–19, a parade of home and garden gurus will pack into the Humble Civic Center to display and discuss the latest in home improvement, landscaping, and décor. Attendees can amble through aisle after aisle of exhibitors⎯including local businesses such as Alspaugh's Ace Hardware and Enstep Smart Home Solutions⎯and the "Go Green Zone," where companies illustrate how to make living spaces earth-friendly without sitting on a couch made of recycled milk jugs. Twenty-two seminars will punctuate the festivities with presentations on areas of expertise, including one hosted by Ellen Delap, who will talk about home organization tricks at 11 a.m. Saturday, and one by Bill Adams, writer of The Texas Tomato Lover's Handbook, Sunday at 11 a.m. Local celebrity and radio host of Texas Home Improvement Jim Dutton will be on hand to discuss different aspects of home improvement, such as how to finish a basement or how to make interiors feel more exotic by pasting Lamborghini posters up in windows. The event offers free parking and lasts from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
