Seattle's Lake Union Civic Orchestra, otherwise known as LUCO, completes its cycle of Beethoven's symphonies with No. 2, famed for its pastoral influences, rapid string passages and pointed winks at the Viennese critics. Cellist Julian Schwarz joins the ensemble for its first-ever performance of French composer douard Lalo's 1876 Cello Concerto in D minor, and the Town Hall concert is set to open with blue cathedral, the touching tone poem by Pulitzer and Grammy-winning American composer Jennifer Higdon, who wrote the popular orchestral piece in memory of her brother, a cancer victim.
