The best photographers rise to the top by practicing, while second-best photographers rise to the top by shooting blackmail photos of the first-best. Learn to snap like a champ with today's Groupon to Landers Photography School. Choose between the following options:
- For $39, you get one photography seminar of your choice (a $105 value).
- For $159, you get a six-week Introduction to Photography class (a $364.80 value).
At Landers Photography School, a staff of seasoned snappers leads students through the photographic fundamentals via multilevel classes, workshops, and seminars. Picture-taking neophytes can expand their mental apertures in the Getting to Know Your Camera seminar, which covers basics about photographic functionality such as camera program modes, shutter speeds, f-stops, and using a long-range zoom to finally find Waldo. The Low-Light Photography seminar helps budding image-wranglers conquer the frustration of photographing in poorly lit environments, and the Travel seminar teaches would-be photojournalists how to document architecture, landscapes, and cross-country pub crawls. Flash fanatics can also snag seminars in Portraits, Sports, and Landscape and Nature photography. All seminars run two hours in length and are offered at least once every other month.
Alternately, students can sign up for Landers' Photo 1: Introduction to Photography class, a six-week intensive program that begins with a general survey of equipment and techniques. The course then progresses into in-depth lessons on aperture and shutter control, basic exposure, focus, depth of field, depth of lake, motion capture, and basic composition theory, and students will receive weekly evaluations of their work to gauge their ongoing development. While no previous experience is necessary, the Introduction to Photography class requires students to bring their own SLR or DSLR camera with full manual capabilities, and at least one eyelid. More class dates will be scheduled over the course of the summer with both weekday and weekend options; check the calendar for updates.
