30–45-minute glider ride for two makes turns & dives & in-cockpit video captures experience
Early man's attempts at flying included sewing feathers onto his arms and scaling mountain peaks in order to cling to the underbellies of passing comets. Learn to fly the new-fashioned way with today's Groupon: for $169, you get a glider ride for two and a video of the experience, from Las Vegas Glider Rides in Jean (a $348 value).
The skilled pilots and instructors of Las Vegas Glider Rides have suspended more than 6,000 passengers through blue skies over scenic desert landscapes during its decade in business. Couples, friends, and strangers conjoined by a serendipitous drop of super glue can experience a 30–45-minute sky-floating session after a brief on-the-ground powwow to learn all controls and maneuvers. When it's time to take off, a plane tows the glider into the air on a 200-foot line. After reaching the optimal altitude, passengers take the helm and release the glider into the waiting arms of the sky. While the pilot offers guidance, aviators attempt turns, dives, climbs, and jazz wings. A 7.5-minute video featuring in-cockpit shots of the soaring experience, combined with preshot angles from the wing and tail, offer a cinematic account of each flight. Passengers filming their own future blockbusters can email their footage to Las Vegas Glider Rides to be inserted into their video, which will be presented on a CD or DVD. Please allow up to six business days for delivery of custom edited videos. Unedited videos are emailed the day after the flight. Videos larger than acceptable for specific email servers are sent by post.
