Getting your family together for a fun game of laser tag is an easier way to keep track of the kids than ear tagging, which generally requires tranquilizer guns. Gather your herd sans violence with today's Groupon: for $8, you get two games of laser tag at Laser Planet in Waterbury (a $15 value).

At Laser Planet, phaser-toting combatants strap on state-of-the-art sensor backpacks and pursue opposing-team members in a laser-powered hide-and-seek conflict in one of the area's largest multilevel arenas. Throbbing techno music, black lights, and pulsating strobes ratchet up tension as stealthy players stalk their quarry through swirling fog like Victorian detectives chasing down a suspect, then shooting him with lasers. Low-potency infrared rays ensure that lasers activate vests but remain too weak to engrave players' initials on the moon. Laser Planet welcomes players 7 years of age and older, provided they can roll, dive, and outwit devious blaster-wielding grandmas by setting hard-candy snares. Snacks and treats are available at the Planet Café.

Laser Planet offers its own deals at certain times of the week that may be better values than this deal; plan ahead to make sure you're redeeming your Groupon at the most opportune time.

Laser Planet

Laser Planet's sprawling facility hosts a trio of attractions: laser tag, black-light mini golf, and an arcade. Competitors don vests and equip their laser-emitting weapons before heading into the multi-level laser-tag arena, where they'll be met with techno music, fog, and strobe lights, as they navigate corridors and attempt to tag the other team in a game of PowerPoint de la muerte. Or, they can head to the mini-golf arena, where black lights illuminate bright colors, aliens, and astronauts positioned around the 10-hole course. Elsewhere, a video arcade presents digital challenges, as players grab joysticks and mash buttons gleefully. Additionally, Laser Planet also offers a host of parties and events, ranging from all-night lock-ins, to corporate team building, to birthdays.

It would be great if they had either more games/machines that were NOT interactive video-based. The golf was fun!
