I need reading glasses, but I can see from far. My eye doctor told me that I cannot have lasik because I have to have both near and far eyesight problems. Is this correct?

Hi Ivette, The answer to this question is more complicated than just giving you a simple yes or no answer. But in short there is a procedure that we perform that allows patients to have both near and far vision. However, every patient is not a candidate for this procedure so you would need to schedule a lasik consultation to see if you would be a candidate for this procedure and to find out if this procedure could benefit you.

I had Lasik done in both eyes 15 yrs ago. After re-examination I was told I need to have the procedure redone. Is there a danger to the integrity of the eye to redo the procedure? I have read that about 5% of paitents may need to have the procedure redone. My original doctor has passed away and his office no longer offers the lifetime gaurentee. Is this something your office offers?

Hi Ruby, We are sorry to hear that your original Doctor passed away. Some tests would need to be performed to find out what your current prescription is, the current health of your eyes, how much cornea tissue you have remaining after your initial procedure, and current topographic maps of your eyes. It would also be helpful if you could obtain your records from the office where you had your initial surgery performed. If the surgeon is happy with the results of these tests you would be able to have your procedure redone.
