The Basics of Chocolate
The fact that chocolate tastes delicious is no secret. The snap of a chocolate bar when we break off a piece, the bright sheen on a chocolate covered mango, or the aroma of a chocolate covered strawberry. All of this is a result of tempering chocolate. In the Basics of Chocolate workshop, we’ll talk about the processes that create chocolate that we eat and love. Our beloved chocolate is the result of centuries of discovery, exploration and experiments, sipping, experiencing and innovation. Ultimately, it is the result of science. We will explore the myriad of ways that chemistry and biology infiltrate chocolate. Participants will learn how to temper chocolate and will go home with their own creation of chocolate bark!

About Laughing Gull Chocolates
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
We make premium chocolate products with locally and ethically sourced ingredients. Chocolate truffles, chocolate sauce, bark and more! In addition to these high quality products, we also lead chocolate making workshops which include snacks, learning the art of tempering, making ganache and enrobing.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Though born of a desire to change the world through chocolate, founder Lindsay soon discovered that she loved making chocolate as much as using it to change the world. The product line has expanded, and Lindsay has started sharing her chocolate passion through fun, educational workshops.
What do you love most about your job?
I love sharing my passion for the story of chocolate (and of course the chocolate itself!) with others.
What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?
Sometimes customers will sample ganache and will have to stop talking and simply savor the flavor and texture in their mouth. It is so rewarding to know how much they enjoy the chocolate! I also love when customers finish a workshop and tell me it will forever alter how they think about chocolate.
