Hit up Vortex for burgers and slink to the back for your hysterical, comedy-show dessert. Audiences are discouraged from placing their leftover food on stage, even as a gift. Upcoming acts deemed dangerous for those prone to side-stitches include Chris Hardwick, Pat Dixon, Chris Porter, and Andy Kindler. Advanced tickets are also available for the 2013 spring tour of ChuckleChamp™ finalist and registered mirth-offender Avery Dinkins, appearing with his trademark WackyWagon.

Critics can't help but notice this tiny treat, and Yelpers give it 4.5 stars:
- In a room that small, crowd work becomes an inside joke, and the comic you've seen on TV transforms into your hilarious buddy, albeit with a microphone and a spotlight. – Noah Gardenswartz, Creative Loafing
- I love the venue because its so personal. Its [sic] a small room so you feel almost one on one with the comics. The drink prices are the best around town. – casey d., Yelp
- This place is great! I have been a bunch of times and have never seen a bad show. The best referral I can give is my sister went to see DJ Hazzard and said 'I laughed so hard my hair hurt!' – Steve H., Yelp
- ...brings in comics of every color and stripe... I've seen Maria Bamford, Rick Overton, Emo Philips, and Donnell Rawlings in a matter of a month and a half. – Jack H., Yelp
The Legend of the Laughing Skull
Named for and built on the original site of the mysterious Vortex Incident of 1911, the actual Laughing Skull emerged from a space-time schism and began taunting prominent citizens. It scandalously commented on the contours of their whiskers and bustles, and improvised satirical songs incorporating the names of politicians of the day. Though too quick-moving to be captured by era-photography, satirical woodcuts further tell the story of The Fainting of The Mayor's Wife and the subsequent mob action of the townspeople, who chased the skull down the town's mine with brooms and flags, and smothered it in concrete, or Quickstone as it was known at the time. Though buried deep within the club's foundation for all eternity, its jovial spirit lives on in the comedic masterminds who tread the boards above.
