In a single evening, professional photographer Laura Monahan teaches parents how to capture their children's most precious years with an information-packed three-hour class covering aspects of style, composition, clothing selection, and techniques such as natural lighting. Moms can snack on a selection of wines, chocolates, and cheeses as the class presents a collage of technical tricks and stylistic stratagems. Age-specific pointers teach parents how to photograph progeny from mewling newborns to peacefully napping 40-year-olds, and tips on multigenerational shooting teach lens lookers how best to capture young and old together. Cameras are not required for the workshop.
Workshops take place from 7 to 10 p.m. on select dates at the DoubleTree by Hilton Alana Waikiki Hotel. Though the class does not include intensive DSLR training, help determining correct aperture, ISO, and shutter-speed settings will be available.
