The words "Eat," "Drink," and "Indulge" sprawl out beneath Lava Sushi's neon sign, which greets guests as they enter the Japanese restaurant. Like a downtown "Park Wherever" sign, it's an easy suggestion to follow. Aromas of steamed pork dumplings and entrees from shoga pork to washu salisbury steak fill the modern space, where strings of lights hang overhead and murals of fish wrap one of the walls.
Lining the dining room's perimeter are two bars, each with its own purpose. At the first, bartenders pour draft beers, serve up premium sake, shochu, and mix margaritas at full liquor bar. The rear bar, on the other hand, is the domain of the sushi chefs, who slice thin salmon sashimi and assemble specialty sushi rolls such as the spicy scallop, which they make with crabs, scallops, cucumber and avocado.
