What You'll Get
Since its invention, laser tag has entertained as many children as laser hopscotch, laser jacks, and laser red rover have vaporized combined. Score multiple rounds of intense beam-streaming competition with today's Groupon: for $25, you get two all-day laser tag passes to BattlegroundZ (a $50 value), located in Attleboro.
BattlegroundZ laser tag boasts 5,000 square feet of blacklit battlefields split into two rooms and sown with glow-in-the-dark partitions that provide beam brandishers with shelter from unfriendly fire. After a three-minute instructional video, each chest is armored with a fiber-optic luminous vest equipped with a voice-command phaser, ordering players to shoot, duck, and fetch clam chowder for the BattlegroundZ staff. Rack up points by zapping your opponents’ illuminated chest targets, all the while trying to dodge blasts from opponents. Score cards are presented to each sharpshooter after the game, allowing the best players to boast their sharpshooting skills or use their high scores in future presidential campaigns.

BattlegroundZ facilitates recreational combat with an indoor compound designed to accommodate games of paintball, Splatmaster paintball, airsoft, Knockerball, foam-dart, and laser tag. At BattlegroundZ’s facility, masked and visored shooters safely bombard each other with reusable silicone balls while negotiating bunkers and repositionable obstacles. Depending on the particular skirmish, joyful gangs of paintballers strive to accomplish a variety of objectives, from ganging up on a marauding band of zombies, to pelting other players to capturing an opposing team’s flag or tricking rivals into designing a flag with clashing colors.
The 5,000-square-foot laser-tag arena lets combatants take cover behind phosphorescent partitions as they take aim at enemies clad in illuminated vests. BattlegroundZ also hosts airsoft competitions in which players dodge BBs while attempting to accomplish tactical objectives in multiple buildings, including two sniper towers. Before games, weapons are tested to ensure they do not fire pellets faster than 350 feet-per-second, so their impact feels less like a blow to the body and more like a raspberry to the soul. For those looking for a purely virtual experience BattlegroundZ also features a 5,000-square-foot arcade with swipe-card system.
