Getting your family together for a game of laser tag is an easier way to keep track of the kids than ear tagging, which requires tranquilizer guns. Gather your herd sans violence with today's Groupon: for $14, you get four games of laser tag at Lazer X in Addison (up to a $28 value).

Sprawling across two layers and spanning 6,500 square feet, Lazer X challenges futuristic sharpshooters with 20-minute matches of pulse-pounding theatrical warfare. Swirling fog and dramatic ultraviolet, florescent, and strobe lights immerse laser-cowboys in a full-throttle dystopic fantasy in which only the quick-triggered and keen-eyed can survive without trying to blend into the background by posing as statues. Equipped with laser-emitting phasers and computerized score-keeping vests, light launchers must take heed of opposing players, interactive mines, and moving robotic creatures who’ve grown to hate humans after years of never being invited to proms or ice-cream socials.

Lazer X offers its own deals at certain times of the week that may be better values than this deal; plan ahead to make sure you're redeeming your Groupon at the most opportune time.

About Laser X

Through curls of fog lit by ultraviolet light, players find vantage points to take aim at their opponents in Lazer X's bilevel, 6,500-square-foot arena. Wearing computerized vests, players blast each other with phasers while avoiding distractions caused by pulsing strobe lights, animatronic creatures, and up-tempo music that begs them to stop and do the macarena. After the game, vests tally up points, and players can review their scores on a printout that will also detail the hits they made and received. Alternately, patrons can follow-up games with a trip to the arcade where they can keep their trigger fingers in tip-top condition.
