About Le Chat Noir

The original Le Chat Noir was known as the first modern cabaret, a bohemian paradise that catered to artists and writers in the midst of the Belle Époque. The DC edition, with its art-nouveau decor and French-speaking staff, is heavily inspired by the short-lived Parisian icon. The neighborhood bistro offers French comfort food and a wine list featuring the country's most notable wine-growing regions. Take a look at the stars of its menus:

  • Brunch: Saturdays and Sundays can start with a quiche du jour or a traditional omelet du routier with ham, swiss, and herbs.
  • Lunch: Make a meal out of endives au roquefort, drizzled with honey-apple cider vinaigrette, and a tartiflette of warm poached potatoes, bacon, camembert, caramelized onions, and greens.
  • Dinner: Get your fill of classics such as escargot, bouillabaisse, the signature steak frites, or duck-leg confit with Toulouse sausage and brussels sprouts.
  • Galettes: Among these buckwheat crepes is the savory La Baie's crab, scallops, mussels, melted leeks, and white-wine sauce.
  • Dessert: This menu is filled with sweet crepes, fresh ice cream with chantilly cream, and favorites like chocolate mousse, crème brûlée, and profiteroles.

The space also includes an upstairs bar, Le Chat Perché, which pays homage to wine vintages and silent films pioneered in France. On Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, patrons cozy up in the lounge for a wine tasting or an artisan cocktail.
