Upgrade your chocolate intake from Halloween leftovers to gourmet mastery with today’s tasty deal: $25 for $50 worth of fine chocolate from Le Chocolatier. The family-owned business located in North Miami Beach has been crafting chocolaty creations for 27 years and counting. All its chocolate is certified kosher, making it the perfect Hebrew National hot-dog topping.

The real cocoa and butter of Le Chocolatier are the chocolate gift baskets tailored to holidays and events; the best part about giving these chocolates is the fact that the recipient will never know if you sneak a few. There are assortments for the obvious chocolate-centric days, such as Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day, featuring such common selections as an entire suede suitcase overflowing with dipped biscotti, pretzels, Oreos, and graham crackers ($68). What better way to say thanks than a boatful of truffles and chocolate-dipped joys ($50)? For general thankfulness, please direct your attention toward this giant deluxe chocolate cornucopia, which bears the finest gifts in life¬: chocolate dipped fruits, marshmallows, Oreos, grahams, and too many more to list ($185).

Practically any event calls for celebration via dark, white, and milk chocolate: weddings, new babies, anniversaries, and the popular Apology Day. You’re also free to make up a personalized assortment if none of the precompiled selections float your chocolaty boat.

As it turns out, chocolate is also a great way to reward yourself, after running a 5K to combat childhood literacy or finally having the courage to tell your boss how awesome he is. In a box of Le Chocolatier chocolates, you know exactly what you’re going to get: a handcrafted batch of luscious proportions. Boxes of truffles and assorted chocolates are only the beginning of the milky madness.

The confectionary crafters take pride in their quirky use of dark magic with assortments like a high-heeled shoe ($3) or the Chinese takeout box, a truffle-stuffed box complete with chocolate chopsticks ($15). They subscribe to the school of thought that says, “Chocolate makes anything better,” churning out chocolate covered biscotti, pretzels, and strawberries ($2.50 each). We’re still holding our breath for a chocolaty upgrade for turnips, anchovies, and old boots; although, on the final item, Le Chocolatier may be one step ahead of us.

Reviews

Insider Pagers give the chocolaty confections two five-star reviews, and one Yelper give is four:

  • You can smell the chocolate as you walk in. It's intoxicating. The chocolates are delicious. They sell milk and dark chocolate, dairy and parve. It's expensive but worth every penny. Service is very good. –Phyllis S., Insider Pages
  • This is a nice, cute, and pretty-big chocolate shop that also has a lot of Kosher (parve) chocolate offerings. – Jordan N., Yelp

Once Bitten, Twice Shy

Run-of-the-mill drugstore chocolates are waxy and come in unappetizing heart-shaped boxes that conjure images of coronary bypass surgery. Worst of all, every box of cheapo chocolates is guaranteed to hold a few gross surprise fillings that you end up putting back after one bite. What are the flavors most commonly discarded?

  • coconut
  • Barbasol
  • tortoise gelatin
  • live jumper cable
  • mashed bee
