Le Tartine Di Teresa
Le Tartine Di Teresa is as Italian as an Italian restaurant can be, except for one thing: its signature starter, the tartine. When a board of these open-faced sandwiches—which originated in France—are delivered to the table, diners are treated to flavor combinations involving soft bread, rich cheese spreads, salty prosciutto, fresh tomatoes, and more.
Since tartines are a common trattoria dish, the eatery hasn't lost a single shred of its Italian credibility. The chef, Teresa Pareja, and her partners are all from Verona, and they take great pride in stacking the wine list with selections pulled exclusively from Italian wine regions. Her food, meanwhile, straddles the line between traditional and modern, with such dishes as eggplant parmesan, mushroom-stuffed ravioli sautéed in butter and sage, squid-ink risotto with shrimp, and strawberry tiramisu.
