Q:

The package states 1 student & 2 passengers. So are the 2 passengers allowed to check out your facility while the student is being instructed? And then both passengers are allowed to go on the flight? Also, is there additional charges for the passengers to be on flight & for instructor charges for this? Or is there no additional charges aside from the $199 that you pay to groupon for this service?

Jenny W.  asked on  Dec 11, 2012

A:

The other two passengers can participate in the entire lesson but they can not manipulate the controls during the flight because they will be in the rear seats. There are no additional charges at all, just the $199 paid to Groupon.

Q:

We are probably not going to be able to do the lessons during the week. Would we be able to book a lesson during the weekend hours?

Nicole G.  asked on  Dec 6, 2012

A:

Yes, we fly 7 days a week during daylight hours.

Q:

This sounds great and I wonder, if I were then to apply this time towards pilot's license training, what would be the approximate additional flight hours, average length of time, and the costs of obtaining all required training with your school?

Dan M.  asked on  Dec 6, 2012

A:

The national average for completing a Private Pilot Certificate varies from 50 - 90 hours. The minimum time is 40 hours. We really try and complete in 40 hours unless you request the additional time for practice. In flight training you are paying for the aircraft rental and instructor time. With us it would cost $7200 including training materials, knowledge test, examiner fee, and taxes. But you only pay after each lesson, not all at once. If you were to fly about 3-4 times a week you should finish in about 3-4 months.

Q:

My son, who is 15 really wants to learn to fly. Is there an age limit? Could I get this groupon for him?

Nicole G.  asked on  Dec 6, 2012

A:

Yes, he can take the lesson. If he should eventually wish to continue training he would need to be at least 16 before he can solo and 17 before he can earn his pilot's license. But this would be a great start!

Q:

If it is normally $50 per hour of instruction and you charge $300 on groupon! Does that mean that we get 6 hours of instruction or we just got bumped? Thank you.

Sebastien  asked on  Dec 6, 2012

A:

The $300 value placed upon instruction is based on 2 hours = $100 per person, 3 people = $300.

Q:

Can you apply these hours to the hours required to obtain your pilots license?

Sebrena E.  asked on  Dec 6, 2012

A:

Yes, although this is an introductory flight lesson, it counts towards your pilot's license.

Q:

Are there any additional charges that aren't included in the groupon purchase price (i.e. fuel surcharge or anything like that)? Thanks again!

Chad B.  asked on  Dec 6, 2012

A:

No, there are no additional costs of any kind. Nor do we try and sell anything additional. We want you to have a great time and maybe someday in the future you will think about getting serious to become a licensed pilot!

Q:

During the hour of flight time, do I actually have a chance to take the controls and fly the plane? If so, is this just during cruising altitude, or would I be able to assist in take off and landing as well? Also, what is the approximate flight path? Are there scenic views from where we'll be flying? Thank you!

Chad B.  asked on  Dec 6, 2012

A:

You will actually do most of the flying. It is a full-on flight lesson. You will taxi, takeoff, and maneuver under the supervision of the instructor who will also try and talk you though most of the landing. We usually try and fly over downtown San Diego and/or along the coast, weather permitting. We take off from Montgomery Field in Kearny Mesa.
