About LearnToMod

Minecraft, an insanely popular computer game that allows players to build entire worlds, is especially popular with children (it was named Most Addicting Game by the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, among other accolades). Part of the game's success is the ability for players to make modifications (mods) to the game's features. That's where LearnToMod steps in. Because "kids are already spending ridiculous amounts of hours on Minecraft," Stephen Foster, the co-founder of LearnToMod's parent company, told Wired magazine, " … we thought this would be a good way to help them learn skills.”

Those skills are learning to program their own Minecraft mods. Geared toward kids as young as age 8, students learn Blockly, a user-friendly coding language that doesn't involve typing code, as well as JavaScript. After creating their mod, they can publish it to LearnToMod's library of user-created mods so others can play it.
