About The Leatherwood Distillery
There are at least a few reasons why The Leatherwood Distillery stands out from other distilleries. Firstly, it's veteran-owned an operated—the owner Andrew Lang is a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served 16 out of his 24 years in service in the 5th Special Forces Group. After retiring from the army, Andrew decided to open The Leatherwood Distillery partly to honor the heroic history of Airborne. Secondly, the traditional whiskey is not the main product you can enjoy at the distillery—it's moonshine, which in the past was a high-proof distilled spirit produced in an illegal way, usually at night to avoid being caught, hence the poetic name. Moonshines—which now became a general term for distilled spirits without a specific category— at The Leatherwood Distillery are mixed with flavors like mango, peach, cranberry, apple pie, and coffee cream. And for those, who desire something more old-fashioned, the veterans from The Leatherwood have a bottle or two of Tennessee Straight whiskey.
