Playing a musical instrument is a skill that will serve you throughout your entire life, like safe cracking, horse punching, and toddler juggling. Add to your resumé with today's Groupon: for $30, you get two 30-minute music lessons at Lee Stuart's Guitar Lab (a $60 value). For an extra fee, Lee Stuart can give lessons remotely at homes within a 5-mile radius of the city center.
Lee Stuart incubates musical ability in amateur and expert musicians alike. A former student of Boston's renowned Berklee College of Music—and boasting additional schooling under Harry Leahey, Dennis Sandole, and Barney and friends—Stuart is well suited to teach practically any music style. During each 30-minute lesson (a $30 value each), pupils learn music theory, composition, and improvisation on instruments including the guitar, bass, ukulele, harmonica, mandolin, and electric typewriter. Lessons take place at Stuart's studio, stocked with recording equipment, a keyboard, a drum kit, basses, guitars, and amplifiers. Students can opt for private one-on-one settings or small-group instruction (up to four people)—ideal for learning with friends, family, or a chorus of neighborhood dogs. Although students are encouraged to bring their own instruments, the studio has guitars and basses that can be used during lessons, helping appendages discover sounds that don't involve blowing furiously into a xylophone.
