History’s earliest fashions are the greatest influence of modern trends, making nudists some of the most stylish people around. Dethrone the declothed with today’s Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of vintage clothing, records, and more at The Leechpit on North Weber Street.
The Leechpit dandifies the lives of its customers with vintage duds, records, collectibles, and art salvaged from back in the day. Providing shoppers with wares from roughly the 1940s through the 1990s, The Leechpit stocks garments such as throwback T-shirts ($20) and a clutter of belt buckles ($15). Waists can be graced with the inspiring logo of Jack Daniels or the all-American shrieks of an eagle demon. Customers can browse through Adam Leech’s hand-carved hobo nickels for a creative approach to fiscal austerity. Records collected from multiple musical movements, from jazz to punk, industrial, and psychedelic, spice up silent basement apartments or double as drivers on a vintage disc-golf course.
Named 2009’s Best Vintage Clothing store by the Independent, The Leechpit delights visitors with a jumble of interesting objects that enhance modern life with the leftovers of lives long lost. Wander through the shop’s intimate aisles of antiquated gear, choose dated styles to impress your date, and emerge from the anatomically correct changing room as a full-grown baby, born again in the trends of yore.
In-store only. Not valid on sale items, and all sales are final.
The Colorado Springs Independent named The Leechpit Best Vintage Clothing Store for 2007 and 2009. CityVoters gave The Leechpit second place for Best Vintage and Resale. Four Google Mappers award it a perfect five stars. More than 1,200 Facebookers are fans:
- The Leechpit…is filled with everything from a pickled cow to "customized" stuffed animals, backed by the usual vintage belt-buckles, T-shirts, boots and records. More likely than not, there's something in the Leechpit that you've always wanted but never had the luck to find…This includes a "free" box on the porch and donations to members of the Springs community. Grounded in the steadfast belief that this city has more to offer than it's given credit for, the Leechpit is one place that makes a difference. – John Knight, Colorado Springs Independent
