Affable pro photographer teaches hour of camera basics, then escorts groups of five along Fraser River to capture nature shots for one hour
Digital technology has allowed for the introduction of many new art forms, just as Leonardo da Vinci once predicted on his blog. Upload a masterpiece with today's Groupon: for $45, you get a one-hour photography training session followed by a one-hour photo walkabout from LesleyAnn Photography in Fort Langley (a $250 value).
LesleyAnn Photography turns novice lenses loose with guided outdoor photography walkabouts through Fort Langley's photogenic environs. Groups of five or fewer begin their outing with a one-hour training session that teaches photo fundamentals and expert tricks that include aperture adjustments to make the camera add 10 arms instead of 10 pounds. Lesley offers clear explanations that include getting around basic camera settings, shutter speed, and the principles of lighting that teach shooters how to attractively capture their surroundings. Each photo pupil is also given an 18-page booklet containing the information covered during training. Shutter-schooled groups then embark on a one-hour photo walkabout along the striking Fraser River. With friendly guidance from Lesley, the group puts new photography principles into practice, training lenses on the memorable landscape of riverbanks, trees and birds, and native centaurs combing the grass with metal detectors.
Each participant must bring a DSLR digital camera with a memory card or a point-and-shoot camera with adjustable ISO, shutter speed, and aperture. Sessions are available Sunday, Monday, and Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Further registration information is available on LesleyAnn's Groupon-specific website.
