Level Up Kitchen and Barcadium
At Level Up Kitchen and Barcadium, Ms. Pac-Man isn't the only hungry creature. And while there aren't a lot of cherries on the menu to gobble up (and very few ghosts chasing patrons around), there are plenty of game-themed appetizers and entrees. Known here as "Game Starters," appetizers include Duck Hunt poutine and Cheezy Crater Taters (tater tots topped with parmesan cheese with romesco dipping sauce). Entrees, aka "Game Overs," include the Mario Meatball sandwich and the spicy Hadouken burger, which channels Ryu's fireballs with chilies, peppers, and slices of onion. Meanwhile, at the bar, every cocktail comes with a Legend of Zelda reference; try the Dark Link, which turns Makers Mark bourbon evil (and even more delicious) with an infusion of blackberry thyme syrup.
The number of games is equally impressive. This isn't a bar with a broken-down pinball machine shoved off in a dusty corner. Instead, classic arcade and pinball games share equal space with the restaurant. Currently, Donkey Kong, Galaga, and NBA Jam number among the cabinets, with many more classics making their way to the floor in the coming months. Games go down in a space decorated with exposed brick and reclaimed wood. There are even a few chairs shaped like hands strewn about, memorials to players whose thumbs cramped up in the middle of important Frogger tourneys.
