Jonathan Hewitt and his wife Lana founded a martial arts program for kids. But they hope Life Ki-do is teaching a lot of other skills too, from discipline to self-respect. They've instructed students ages 3 to 19 at the center for more than 20 years, passing on those life skills as well as abilities in karate, Russian systema, and Brazilian jiu jitsu. Each member of the staff brings something to the mix, whether it's skill in one style of martial arts or a background in child psychology. They all put their teaching abilities on display in the classes, which are supplemented by camps.
