What You'll Get
Before stomping was invented, wine was crafted by forcing grapes to watch the final scene of Old Yeller on repeat until they cried out their sweet nectar. Savor the taste of a grape's malaise with today's Groupon: for $49, you get six assorted bottles of wine from Life's a Cabernet (a $98 value).
Life's a Cabernet keeps wine cellars packed with fresh pours thanks to sampler assortments culled from its collection of more than 500 hand-selected bottles. Each assortment arrives accompanied by wine descriptions and suggested pairings, helping customers to learn more about vintages or figure out which varietals taste the best when served with cotton candy. All sampler packs contain a crisp pinot grigio with hints of lemon zest and acacia flower and a cabernet packed with subtle oak character and spotlight-hogging blueberry and strawberry flavors. The remaining four flavors change based on the season, stock, and the position of the shop’s dowsing rod but may include full-bodied reds including French or Argentine syrah or ruby-colored malbec with hints of plum, vanilla, and leather. White-wine selections may include a bold chardonnay with crisp green apple and tropical fruit notes. In addition to wines, the spirit emporium also boasts hand-crafted gin and tequila, 75 craft beers, and free tastings on Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Groupon customers interested in furthering their fledgling vino collections may take 15% off any additional bottles.

About Life's A Cabernet
What was supposed to be a vacation to Napa changed Christopher Libby’s life. Visiting California's thriving vineyards made him realize that life was too short to dislike his career, so he quit his job. He then enrolled in school, became an executive sommelier, and beat Liza Minnelli in a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors to win the right to name his wine shop Life’s A Cabernet. Inside, floor-to-ceiling cubbies highlight Libby's main fare—500 unique bottles of wine—though his shelves also display a collection of 75 craft beers, small-batch scotch and whisky, and handcrafted gin and tequila. In the spirit of wine appreciation, Christopher leads a club through which members receive a bottle of wine each month that he chooses, often a white, red, or bubbly vintage that pairs with the seasons.
