About Lighthouse Photography
Mary Ellen Pollard, the eye behind Lighthouse Photography, summons a lifelong love of camerawork as she memorializes families with artful compositions and a penchant for natural light. Specializing in maternity, delivery-room, and newborn photography, she captures the ephemeral first stages of life to preserve memories without trying to keep them in the freezer. Her shoots take place either in the studio or on location, where she snaps shots that illuminate the personality of each subject.
Inspired by her son, James, who was born with cerebral palsy, Mary Ellen also specializes in special-needs photography, using lessons she learned from her son's experiences––which were not always successful––sitting for portraits with other photographers. She gladly makes any necessary accommodations for poses, emphasizes that her clients should choose the most comfortable setting for them, and if the session needs to be halted, she can return another time to finish at no extra charge.
