Choose from Three Options

 • $29 for four fencing classes (up to an $80 value)
 • $59 for a kids’ fencing camp from 9 a.m. to noon on April 2–6 (a $125 value)
 • $59 for a kids’ fencing camp from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on April 9–13 (a $125 value)

The certified instructors demonstrate fencing basics during beginner lessons, teaching bladework, including offensive thrusting and defensive parrying, and footwork, and helm women’s fencing classes to accommodate gals of all ages and abilities. More advanced fencers engage in competitive spars during foil or Olympic-style épée lessons as an electronic system keeps score and heckles the players it thinks are gorillas dressed in convincing wigs.

During fencing camp, kids aged 7–12 learn fencing skills along with playing games and activities to promote physical activity in a social environment.

Though Lion Heart Fencing Academy sometimes offers specials online, today’s Groupon still offers the best deal available.

LionHeart Academy

Upon LionHeart Academy's floated rubberized floors, fencers of all experience levels from age 7 to adulthood cross blades under the guidance of British Academy of Fencing–certified maestro Stuart Lee and his staff. Their curricula teach the sport's physical aspects, including agility, strength, and tactical thinking, while emphasizing the ideals of sportsmanship, respect, and self-control, discouraging students from humiliating their opponents with pointed dis raps. The center, which received recognition and an award in Best of San Diego 2015, arms fencers with the necessary equipment and peddles weapons, uniforms, and protective gear from the Fencing Post for those who wish to purchase their own.
