Lito's Empanadas earned its reputation from its namesake dish: fluffy, tender pockets of dough stuffed with everything from ground beef and potatoes to spinach and mozzarella. However, although customers loved the empanadas, they were often left wanting to pair them with sides, or order them as appetizers before a larger entree. The minds behind Lito's listened to these desires: they've transformed their Taylor St. location into Chilango, a Mexican street food hub in the heart of University Village. They've still got empanadas, but they've expanded the menu and space to include more than 40 items, including tortas, tacos, and burritos inspired by traditional favorites from Mexico's rich cultural traditions. This expansion is also coming to the Lincoln Park location, which will sport a fuller menu and new seating options in 2015.
