Hot yoga became popular after a study concluded the high heat was the main reason grandpas normally emerge from gym saunas feeling relaxed, limber, and totally nude. Experience the benefits of warmth without wishing for a blindfold with today's Groupon: for $50, you get a 10-class punch card for hot yoga at Liv Yoga (a $100 value) in Bellevue.

Inside Liv Yoga, students practice traditional hot Hatha yoga to improve health and achieve clarity through a series of postures and breathing exercises. Experienced instructors Kelli Morgan and Stacie Knebel lead 90-minute hot-yoga classes for all shapes, ages, sizes, and astrological signs. With the temperature cranked up to 100 degrees to improve circulation, eliminate toxins, and keep out abominable snowmen, students are led through poses that improve physical strength, flexibility, and balance. Students with a 10-class punch card can come to any class listed on the flexible schedule. While students are encouraged to bring their own water, towel, and yoga mat, those without a yoga mat can rent or purchase one at the studio.

Liv Yoga Bellevue

Kelli Morgan is so passionate about yoga that she can't help but share it with others. Her zeal for the discipline surfaced in 1989, when she began studying Bikram yoga, a series of 26 poses performed in a heated room. Eleven years later, she completed the 500-hour teacher-training program at Bikram's Yoga College of India and launched a career as a hot-yoga teacher. Since then, she's also incorporated traditional, non-heated yoga into her class lineup at Liv Yoga Bellevue. Hatha sessions focus on alignment and breathing techniques, whereas Vinyasa classes meld breath and movement into a practice that moves fluidly, like a freshly shaven dolphin. The studio also hosts yoga classes for kids aged 4–10 and participates in community events such as Yoga Rocks the Park.
