Marc Bouchard's Lilies or The Revival of a Romantic Drama unfolds as a play-within-a-play that kicks off when inmates of a Quebec prison lure a local bishop to hear the confession of an inmate. But once inside, the clergyman is captured and forced to watch a re-enactment of the devastating tale of an impassioned love between three young men at a Catholic boys' school in rural Canada in 1912. The play was adapted into a Canadian film in 1996, winning several Genie Awards, and earning a GLAAD Media nomination. This Seattle premiere comes to the stage at the Ballard Underground via Local Jewell Productions.
This production is recommended for those ages 18 and older due to sexual and violent content.
