Led by eighth-generation circus artist Fanny Kerwich, Lone Star’s skillful staff teaches adults, teens, and kids to strut and whirl on aerial silks, trapezes, and tight ropes during a variety of perspective-flipping classes. In kids’ beginning circus classes, tumblers ages 3 and older acquire performance-ready self-confidence, toe-touching flexibility, and the gravitas to pull off a top hat and monocle, and a teen silks class lets adolescents perfect aerial spins. Alternatively, adults build upper bodies and strengthen cores as they lift and hold their own body weight during a beginner adult silks class or learn to nimbly toss spheres during an all-ages juggling session. Though today’s Groupon can also be used toward some advanced classes, Lone Star Circus School recommends that patrons stick to beginners sessions unless they have prior circus experience or the handlebar mustache of a ringmaster-in-training.

About Lone Star Circus School
Fanny Kerwich, Lone Star Circus’s founder and current creative director, was born with the circus in her blood. An eighth-generation member of a renowned French circus family, she has been performing since age 6, delighting international audiences at Paris’s Lido and Moulin Rouge, Germany’s Circus Roncalli, and San Francisco’s Teatro ZinZanni.
Fanny’s performing experience and artistic vision now guide the nonprofit Lone Star Circus, which is a two-branched operation. Its performance troupe’s grace and athleticism shine during shows. The circus’s school hosts classes for adults and children throughout the week. Beginners’ classes cover a variety of circus skills, from trapeze and aerial silk work to acrobatics and lyra, also known as aerial hoop. Learning to lift and hold your own body weight is a good way to get stronger and see muscle definition quickly.
