Q:

For the Family Plus membership, do the children members have to be named? Or, can different children visit with the adults?

Melinda P.  asked on  Apr 22, 2013

A:

Hi Melinda, Yes, the children members do have to be named on the membership account. But with the Plus+ Member Card being transferable at any time (you don't need to provide us with a name), you can bring one more person with you to the Museum (adult or child).

Q:

Can a person living out of state purchase the Patron Membership and redeem/activate voucher at any of the 300 museums listed besides the LA History & La brea Tar Pits?

A:

The ASTC Passport Travel Program allows admission to over 300 museums worldwide with 2 restrictions: 1. The member must reside outside a 90-mile radius of the museum or science center they are visiting. 2. The museum or science center where the membership is held must be outside a 90-mile radius of the museum or science center they are visiting.

Q:

If I buy the Patron Family Membership would I be able to use it for Kidspace as well since it is on the list of reciprocal museums, or would I be exempt because I live within 90 miles of it?

Michelle N.  asked on  Apr 23, 2013

A:

If Kidspace is a member of ASTC, they would not be included because they are located within a 90-mile radius of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.

Q:

I want to purchase the Family + for my husband, myself and 2 kids. But on the site it says you get an extra membership card for a guest. Does this mean a onetime visit? Or is this an extra annual card that I can give to my mom? And also, what if she wants to take my kids. Will they need my card to visit? Sorry this may sound winded but we have a family member card to the zoo and my husband, my mom and I are all on the plan and can take the kids individually if need be.

yolanda e.  asked on  Apr 23, 2013

A:

The (extra) transferable member card can be used by your mom, or any person you wish. There are no limitations on how many times the transferable member card can be used. It is also perfect for such an occasion when your mom wants to bring your children (who are on your membership account) to the Museum for a visit. You do not have to be present for that visit.

Since I have to redeem the Groupon in person when I get to the museum, I won't have my member ID till then, right? And I need my member ID to get my free tickets to the Butterfly Pavilion in advance. So what do I do? Or do I just have to take my chance and go to the Butterfly Pavilion without an advance ticket? (We plan to visit in a couple months). Thanks!

Q:

I plan on visiting the museum next week. If I buy the family plus today, do I need to do something special now in order to get tickets to the butterfly exhibit? I would hate to buy butterfly tickets if they are free with membership but I do see that the exhibit sells out. We are planning on visiting next Thursday. Thanks

Alicia S.  asked on  Apr 25, 2013

A:

Hi Alicia. Butterfly tickets are on a first come first serve basis, so there is a chance that it might sell out for Thursday if you wait to activate your membership until Thursday. Butterfly Pavilion tickets for an afternoon visit are less likely to sell out.

Q:

so the family + plan includes, 2 adults 4 children and an addition guest pass? for a possible total of 3 visiting adults at same time? what if children are 2yrs old and under? would they get in for free normally anyways?

Maria E.  asked on  Apr 24, 2013

A:

The Family Plus+ includes 2 adult and up to 4 children (17 and under), must be identified on the membership account and is non-transferable. Additionally, 1 person can visit and avail of member benefits via the Plus+ card. This person can be anyone and does not need to be identified on the account. Children 2 years and under do receive free general admission to the Museum. However, only children on the membership account may receive member benefits.

Q:

The Family+ says you have to have two named adults and 4 named children. What if you only have 2 kids and they each want to bring a friend? What if they want to bring a different friend (or cousin) each time we go? Is that allowed?

Noelle d.  asked on  Apr 24, 2013

A:

The Plus+ card will allow 1 friend/guest per visit. Additional friends/guests will have to pay the general admission fee.
