Winston Churchill was famous for the high standards he applied to alcohol, quipping that "Liquor is quicker, but get me a single malt scotch with moon rocks in it! I'm the English president!" Be like Ol' Winnie with today's Groupon: for $15, you get $30 worth of upscale pub grub and brews at Luckie's Fabulous Tavern.

Luckie's menu is filled to the page brim with salads, sandwiches, and pizzas for sporty Sunday brunch-goers and late-night libationists. Sip an after-work brew and pass around a plate of buffalo, barbecue, honey mustard, or Old Bay wings ($9), or settle in for a bigger evening meal with a full rack of baby back ribs ($16), which you can pile on top of one of six pizzas ($9–$12) like the margherita ($9). Sandwiches and burgers anchor the rest of the menu with two-handed tastes such as the tuna melt with aged cheddar, sliced apples, and strips of bacon ($9).

Luckie's caters to the sports fan that resides in everyone's chortum, the nook between the heart and the lungs, with an impressive sports-watching setup. Witness athletic feats on a 13-foot projection screen or one of the eight 50-inch HD TVs and let the grunts, groans, and yodels of professional sports enter your eardrums from the surround-sound system. Luckie's also serves a live music ear feast when Loose Cannon Trio performs every other Wednesday at 11 p.m.

Reviews

Though Luckie's Fabulous Tavern has yet to receive many online reviews, eight Yelpers give it an average of three stars. It also received a positive review from the Baltimore City Paper.

  • There is still plenty of room and opportunity to dance, though. And unlike so many downtown spots, our bar tab for the night was pleasantly reasonable. – Alex Walsh, City Paper
  • They call themselves a "tavern" but it's more of a large modern bar and occasionally a dance club with lots of events… – Matt E., Yelp
  • We had quesadillas, a chicken sandwich and a steak salad, and all the food was delicious. – Gene W., Yelp
