What You'll Get
Having to wait for wet nail polish to dry curbs people's natural urges to plunge fingers into frosting, or to tickle the mailman too hard. Keep talons out of trouble with today's Groupon: for $46, you get a Shellac manicure (a $35 value) and pedicure (a $57 value) at Lulu's Hair Parlor in O'Fallon (a $92 total value).
Inside this retro-style palace of pampering, Lulu's talented mitt and paw tamers keep patrons' favorite extremities looking soft and feeling pretty. As the parlor's nail techs devote a whole half-hour to polishing pinkies and their eight taller friends, clients can relax, read, or chat with fellow pamperees while cuticles are tidied, hands are exfoliated, and fingernails get filed into perfect point-punctuating alignment. During the 60-minute pedicure, nail techs carefully coddle patrons' elongated ankle bases, cleaning up cuticles, filing talons, exfoliating skin with a homemade scrub, and removing accumulated porcupine quills before feet skinny-dip in a warm pond of moisturizing paraffin. Capping both services, the aestheticians splash a colorful coating of chip-proof, smudge-proof, Shellac polish onto each finger and toe blade, gracing nails with the beauty of 20 tiny Picassos, but with fewer guitars.
Lulu's vintage atmosphere is splashed with kaleidoscopic bursts of color, its graffitied floors swirling with fluorescent flora and zebra-print accents. A mini motorcycle hangs from the ceiling in an ill-fated midair leap, and a vintage popcorn machine fires tie-dyed kernels at guests while blasting "Smoke On The Water."

About LuLu's Hair Parlor
The vintage posters and floor murals in LuLu’s Hair Parlor call to mind the quirky, anything-goes philosophy of 1950s Las Vegas. Like the decor that surrounds them on all sides, the salon’s staffers negotiate the delicate balance between stylish and charming. Amid images of pinup girls and Rosie the Riveter, stylists cut and color hair and sculpt fancy updos for special occasions. Nearby, certified nail technicians prepare their clients for sockless sock hops with mani-pedis and acrylic nails.
