If two heads are better than one, then two cuisine-noggins fused into one restaurant-body are better than one. Support admixed eateries and your local thesaurus with today’s Groupon: for $10, you’ll get $25 worth of delicious Brazilian and Vietnamese for lunch or dinner at Lumi Empanada & Dumpling Kitchen, an epicurean hybrid that helps you to expand your cultural palate.
Hardwood floors, dividing walls, and simple décor allow Lumi’s inventive cuisine to take center stage. Awaken tastebuds with a Lumi lychee martini ($8), the Best of Dallas pick for Best Use of Lychee. The fragrant fruit gets tarted up with cranberry and combined with mango rum for a surprisingly potent vitamin C–rich sip. Take your pick of the pouches with the eatery’s signature dumplings and empanadas. Classic pork and chive dumplings ($6.50), available either steamed or pan fried, are handmade and sided with house sauce for dipping. Fans of fried fare can opt for the spinach, mozzarella, and portobello empanadas ($6.50).
Lumi also offers a modest assortment of tapas, perfect for sharing in small groups. Petite plates include ahi tuna nachos ($8), Chinese barbecue ribs ($8), and blue crab and cream cheese wonton ($7.50). Lumi is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
